Your mind won’t stop racing.

“I’m not good enough.”

“I’ll never be as thin as she is.”

“Everybody must hate me.”

“I don’t have enough money to start this new project.”

“I’m not smart enough.”

“People will think I’m ridiculous if I try this and fail.”

And on and on and on. For the rest of time.

I get it.

I needed this this morning. My inner critic is beating me up so much this week.

Love this! I normally make a list of everything that I did right, or remind myself that I really did do good. But sometimes pushing away negative thoughts is hard. And on those days I eat ice cream.

Great suggestions! Thank you, Ashley! I found you by way of Tiny Buddha and I’ve used your work to help my daughter. I will make sure she sees this one, too!

So glad you’re here, Debbie! Thanks so much for sharing my work with your daughter. I hope she finds it helpful and inspiring!

I really love the last suggestion. This is what I’m actually doing lately. I have been scared so much to try to do things I want to do because I am afraid to fail or do them wrong. So lately I have been telling my self that, “Let’s try it!” “One step at a time.” “Practice makes perfect.” And I let myself and allow myself to make mistakes. I’m practicing to get better at what I want to do and without practice and experience, how am I going to get there? That is how I change my negative thoughts.

Thanks for this post.
