So, you know your business needs a list, yeah?

Why?

It’s simple.

Your list helps you get your business in front of more people with less effort, it connects you with your dream clients, and it helps your make more money (so you can spend more time practicing yoga, sipping wine, and traveling through Europe).

But before you can get thousands of people to hand over their email address, you need to have something special to offer them in exchange. And I call that a “freebie.” (You can sign up for mine here.)

No idea how to create a “freebie?” No worries!

How to Create an Irresistible “Freebie”

1. Get to know your dream client

Once you know as much as possible about your dream client, you’ll be in the delicious position to make your business stand out by creating enticing products and services they love.

Here are a few questions to get you started:

How old is she?

Is she married or single?

Where does she live?

What does she do for a living?

What blogs does she read?

2. Pick a type

Based on everything you know about your dream client, what would she most like in exchange for signing up for your newsletter?

Some people want a discount code for your Etsy shop, while others will want an eBook, a checklist, or a printable calendar. Some want a video to watch and others want a podcast.

Thing about your dream client and brainstorm 3 types of freebies she’d most like to get her hands on.

3. Create incredible content

Now that you have a good idea of the type of freebie you’ll be offering, it’s time for the fun part: the content!

This is where you really want to get inside your dream client’s head and understand what they’re thinking.

These questions are a good jumping-off point:

What is your dream client’s biggest struggle?

What are your areas of expertise that your dream client would love to know more about?

If you were having coffee, what questions would she ask you?

If you only had 5 minutes to talk to your dream client, what would you want them to know?

4. Declare your “freebie!”

“My freebie is a [_______________] about [_____________________________.]

What a timely article! I’m just in the process of putting together my ‘freebie’- an ebook to help women rock their finances in their 20s and 30s.

I actually had a designer (http://cargocollective.com/kristinwhite) design my ebook and create the cover. She did an awesome job!
