Inspirational Interview: Lizzie Beadon

by Ashley on October 28, 2013 · 4 comments

This is one of our Inspirational Interviews in which we talk to people who have imagined big dreams, made them a reality, and are living a life they love. Today we are talking to Lizzie Beadon who works for her sister by day and runs her passion project, LoveLoft, by night.

1. Tell us a little about yourself!

If there was a word that described a chocolate loving, bathroom dancing blogger, then that word would be used to describe me. I’m a 23-year old, nationality confused chick living and working in London, UK. By day I work for my sister, and by night I work on my passion project, A little bit like Batman but with less bats and more fairy lights :)

2. What does living a “super awesome life” look like for you?

To me, a super awesome life is all about coupling self love with a clear vision for the future. From what I’ve seen, too many people are in the “I’ll be happy when…” mentality. I think knowing what you want can be an incredible compass to how you live your life, but achieving goals shouldn’t be the stem of all happiness. I believe that if you can’t be happy with nothing, then nothing will make you happy. If you can love yourself fully and have an idea of where you’re going then, in my eyes, you’re already living a super awesome life!

3. What inspired you to create LoveLoft

I created LoveLoft because I want to spread the message to women in their twenties that they have the power to change their lives. I have far too many funny, intelligent, beautiful girlfriends in their twenties who have had a string of unhappy relationships, or who have jumped from job to job trying to find out “what they want to do with their life;” I think many of them feel like their fate hinges on what life throws at them. I created LoveLoft to spread the word to women in their twenties that they DO have control of their life if they’ll just step up and take it.

4. What has been your biggest challenge since deciding to pursue your passion project?

My biggest challenge since deciding to pursue my passion project has been juggling my work, life, and LoveLoft commitments. I think I have it under control now, but getting LoveLoft off the ground required a lot of work and time!

5. What advice would you give to other women who have a passion project, but aren’t sure how to get it off the ground?

I would say “just start.” Especially if your passion project is related to starting a blog or vlog like mine was, just get the first post out and then keep it consistent. The first step really is the hardest; it gets easier after that.

6. What little things in life right now make you you do a happy dance? Big things?

As cliched as it sounds, my whole life makes me do a happy dance. I work from home for my sister, I live in London, I have my LoveLoft passion project on the side…I’m so grateful for where I am. If you wanted a more specific answer, then I’d say that seeing someone new subscribe to LoveLoft always makes me say “thank you, Universe.” I never want to lose that gratuity for someone welcoming LoveLoft a little more into their life.

7. In the movie of your life, who would you want to play you?

In the movie of my life, I’d 100% want Jennifer Lawrence to play me. I love that girl! She always seems so genuine.

8. What is one thing you’d like to change about the world?

I’d love to see more empowered women in their twenties. Sheryl Sandberg said that men attribute their success to themselves, whereas women attribute their success to external factors. I can totally see that in a lot of women I know and I think it has to change. We need to own our success and not shy away from it.

9. What quote best represents you or motivates you in your current place in life?

“You are what you repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” – Aristotle

10. What inspires you to continue living a life you love each day?

I have a clear vision of how I want my life to look, and I know what I have to do to get there. I’m overwhelmed with love for my life right now, but it’s having that vision that keeps me motivated and inspired every day.

Thanks so much for sharing, Lizzie!

This was so encouraging. I recently wrote a blog post about the “I’ll be happy when…” mindset because it’s been on my mind so much – I see all of my friends (and myself) pursuing a certain degree or career on the assumption that when the next signpost is reached, our lives will instantly be better. It’s tough balancing ambition and anticipation with being content with yourself at the same time. It’s nice to know somebody else can relate! Thank you for this!
