When I started Your Super Awesome Life back in 2012, I spent months looking at all the other coaches trying to figure out where I fit in and how I could stand out. I wanted to have a unique niche, but I wasn’t sure what that could be.
At first I thought I could coach teenage girls, but that fizzled out when I realized how much I’d be working with the parents too. Then I coached women through big life transitions and finding their passion.
But it wasn’t until I did some serious soul-searching and looked at all my gifts, talents, and skills that I figured out I was meant to be a business coach.
Isn’t it funny how when you’re honest about who you are and how you want to use your skills and talents to serve the world, everything begins to fall into place? Everything feels easy, work begins to feel like play, and you wake up excited on Monday morning. And who doesn’t want that?
This is usually the step people skip when figuring out what they want to do with their life, and I think that’s why so many people end up miserable in their jobs. They haven’t taken themselves into consideration. They haven’t considered their core values or what they actually want their life to look like.
But if you start by looking inside of yourself, things will begin to flow. Your business will become an expression of you and what you have to offer. Most importantly, it will be easy and it will be fun! You’ll feel more fulfilled and more confident because you’re actually using your biggest talents. It seems so simple, and really it is.
How to Be Irresistible in Your Business
1. Show us who you are
What’s unique about you? Are you a feisty redhead who tells it like it is? Or are you more sensitive and reserved? Are you a master pianist, marathon runner, or an award-winning break dancer? If you’re feeling stuck, ask the five people closest to you how they’d describe you and you’re sure to get some awesome insight.
2. Highlight your skills and passions
Make a list of each job you’ve had and list all the skills you learned. Did you learn sales, marketing, bookkeeping, accounting, graphics, teaching, project management, speaking, training, etc.? Then list any other skills, passions, or hobbies you have OUTSIDE of your work experiences.
3. Share your mess-to-success story
What challenge(s) in life have you overcome, specifically in terms of your business, your health, and your relationships? Who are you a few steps ahead of? What lessons have you learned that you can share with others?
Once you have your answers, begin trying to tie them into your business and sharing them with your audience.
Tell us your mess-to-success story in a video or write a blog post sharing one of your hobbies. Take real-time photos and share on instagram. The possibilities are endless!
