If you’re anything like most budding entrepreneurs, one of your biggest struggles when you’re first starting out is getting paying clients.

I see it happen with my clients all the time.

It’s not that they don’t have the talent or skills to have a rockin’ business, but for some reason the cash just isn’t flowing.

Sometimes they’re trading their services, bartering their goods, or even giving them away for free!

And while that’s an awesome way to build your portfolio and get some experience, it’s not gonna work long-term. No ma’am.

We wanna get you to the place where your booked out with paying clients.

Isn’t that what you want? Thought so.

So, here’s what I tell my clients…

The Secret to Getting Paying Clients

Know Your Client

To bring in the moola, you first have to figure out who your dream client is.

You’ll want to get clear on the demographic info such as their age, gender, marital status, and career. Then you can dig a little deeper into their psychographic info (interests, hobbies, values, etc.) to get a better idea of who they are.

Do you know their deepest desires and biggest fears? Do you know what they’re thinking, even if they don’t tell you? Keep peeling back the layers until you feel like your client is your best friend.

This first step is crucial, so don’t skip it!

Solve Their Problem

Now it’s time to figure out what problem your client dream wants solved.

Typically, this problem will fall in the areas of health, relationships, or business.

Does your dream client want to lose 15 pounds? Do they want to learn how to ask someone out on a date? Do they want to double their rates and make more money?

What is their biggest challenge right now and how can you help them solve it?

Give Them What They Really Want

And finally you want to understand exactly what your client wants.

Maybe they want to lose 15 pounds, but if you really got into your client’s head, you’d learn that she actually just wants to feel confident and secure in her own skin.

Or, one of my favorite exercises to share with my clients is the “Client Journal Entry”. It’s super easy (and effective). Just grab a journal and begin writing as if you’re your own dream client.

This is a chance for you to get inside your client’s head, explore their most embarrassing stories, uncover their fears, and dig into their hopes and dreams.

Spend at least 15 minutes free writing and don’t forget to have fun!
