What I Wish I Knew: The Guide

When I was a teenager, I had so many questions and I made the worst mistakes. I thought I knew what I was doing but, really, I had no idea. There were days when I was fumbling around, just trying to make it through without embarrassing myself completely.  I felt so confused and I often wondered if I would ever feel “normal”. Thankfully, I’ve learned a few lessons over the years and I can look back now with a much clearer perspective.

  • You are smarter, stronger, and more beautiful than you realize.
  • That boy you can’t stop thinking about? He probably won’t mean anything to you in two years. Maybe even two months!
  • If he makes you question your morals, your standards, your intelligence, or your beauty, he’s not the one for you.
  • High school isn’t the best time of your life. College isn’t either. It keeps getting better.
  • Your grades aren’t really that important, but learning to work hard is.
  • In five years, no one will remember if you aren’t at the “popular” table during lunch.
  • You won’t regret the mistakes you make.
  • You also won’t regret staying in on Friday night.
  • It’s okay to cry yourself to sleep. It’s also okay to eat an extra scoop of ice cream. But never forget that you deserve better than this.
  • There will always be drama, so it’s easiest if you learn to avoid it now.
  • If something doesn’t feel right, it’s not right.
  • It’s okay to say no.
  • Find what you love and do more of it.
  • Those dreams you have for yourself? They will come true.
  • As Conan O’Brien said, “If you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.”

Part of my mission here at Your Super Awesome Life is to help spare you that heart ache, that confusion, and all that uncertainty. I can share everything I know, but that doesn’t cover everything!

So, I had this idea to join forces with all the super awesome women who have inspired me, motivated me, and taught me a few lessons over the years. Without these ladies, I wouldn’t know half of what I know now.

For the past two weeks, I hosted the What I Wish I Knew blog series. Each day one woman shared a blog post on what she wishes she knew when she was a teenage. We covered everything from careers to relationships to self-love. And then I compiled all the posts into this guide for you to share with anyone and everyone.

My hope is that this inspiring, gorgeous, and easy-to-read guide will answer some of those questions and help you feel a little less alone.

Download an extra copy for your BFF. Print out as many as you’d like and pass them around school. This is for you! And it’s FREE!

It’s been too long, old bloggy friend! I still get hits from Turquoise Ribbons. I so miss the old blog days. Hope all is well.
