What To Do When You’re Held Back By Fear

by Ashley on April 12, 2013 · 6 comments

You have all these dreams and big ideas that you want to make happen, but you’re scared. You are afraid of what other people will think, afraid that you aren’t good enough, and afraid that you will fail.

I totally get it.

And I know this is a huge obstacle that comes up when you decide you want to live a life you love because it’s one of the main issues that my clients bring to our coaching sessions.

I hear things like, “I hate my job and my condescending co-workers, but I’m afraid to quit!” or “I really want to become a yoga instructor, but I’m afraid I’m not good enough.”

But here’s the thing.

Fear is 98% of the reason that we don’t live a super awesome life.

It’s the reason we stay stuck in our boring routines, stuck in relationships that make us unhappy, and stuck in a life that leaves us feeling uninspired. And I know that’s not the life you want.

Watch today’s video to learn what to do when you’re held back by fear.

So, I wanna know… What fear is holding you back?

P.S. Don’t forget, DreamQuest is coming soon! If you want in on an exclusive group coaching program + six months worth of emails to help you accomplish your fantasy goal once and for all, this is for you. You can find all the details here. I would really love YOU to join us.

My biggest fear is that I don’t have the drive to accomplish my goals. My biggest obstacle right now is procrastination. I have big things I want to accomplish, but I’ve been stuck in this rut where I let another day, and another day, and another day pass by without doing much of anything towards working toward that goal… and when someone who knows what I’m trying to accomplish asks me about it, I get caught off guard and totally freak.

Oh yes, procrastination can be a huge “excuse” when we’re feeling afraid and overwhelmed by our goals. You are totally not alone in feeling this way! It can be really helpful to break up your goal into smaller steps (perhaps by monthly goals) and then break it down even further (into weekly or daily goals). When I’m feeling stuck in my procrastination, I try to remind myself that even one small action today means I’m that much closer to my goal tomorrow- and lots of small steps add up into something much bigger!

Oh my, I’m liking the new look of this site, anywho I have to say fear is something I want to avoid like the plague. I guess the biggest tragedy is to die without reaching your full potential, somehow I don’t fear that possibility though. Fear is a state of mind I don’t want to acknowledge.

P.S. Ashley rocks!

Hey I like the new site. How are you finding Canada, and how is the new business going?

Thanks, Pete! Canada is great so far, although it would be nice stopped snowing and warmed up a bit. :)
